Orthotopic and heterotopic mouse tumor models imitate the tumor‘s native environment, truly reflecting biological complexities, and challenges of drug delivery via blood perfusion, thereby providing a highly predictive value for clinical outcomes when testing antitumor candidates. By using the In Vivo Imaging System (IVIS), whole body imaging on living animals enables tracking the disease progression, allowing the observation of tumors development of spreading through the body. In addition, ex vivo imaging allows to confirm tumor load in individual organs. The data support the usage of the IVIS imaging technology for translation oncology research.
